Has anyones horse broken it's leg and was fully fixed?

I wont be much use in terms of in depth info, but I know of two: my mum's pony broke his leg as a four year old - vet wanted to PTS, but she had him put into plaster and he survived, and he's still alive today, aged 31!

The other horse belonged to my SJ instructor; he broke his fetlock as a yearling, and he too was put into plaster and wedged between two big bales for three months.....he came through it, and is a Novice eventer now!

my mare fractured her splint bone terribly this time last year and we are doing a prelim at the weekend and have been back jumping since jan! it's not all doom and gloom, promise, but it does take a while to heal. PM me if you like xx

My horse fractured his near hind hock joint and when it was x-rayed it became apparent that there was already a crack i the bone formk birth/young age therefore the bone counld not be pinned so they had to remove a corner of the joint - my vet at the time said it was the biggest bit of bone he'd ever taken out of a leg! He had 3 mths box rest and was then brought back into work over 12 months, he was 6 at the time and is now 11. The only things we do is keep him on a high dose of joint supplement and he needs regular back treatment. He has jumped up to 1.30m and now does pure dressage (prelim/novice). PM me if you want to know anything else!

A friend had a hurdler who fractured his cannon bone, he now has a plate in it and has been back in race training although now it's been decided to sell him maybe as a riding club/all rounder type as he's too slow and not intersted in racing!

Friend bought a horse and it was injured in transportation. He had big wounds and damage to the ligament which all repaired. After several months off they had final scans and x rays and the bone had repaired without them knowing it was broken.

My horse had a spiral fracture of the radius and then a chip fracture of the tibia. He survived both of them but developed problems as a result of the lengthy box rest for the first break. Feel free to PM if I can help.
