Hmm that's a bit of a difficult question! Aside from small cuts, in a way Maiden's tendon injury was slightly related to her shoes/how her feet had been kept - her hoof/pastern axis was broken back on the X-rays, despite looking far too upright from the outside (and so farrier did his duty and tried to lengthen her toes). I'm not saying in ANY way that the farrier caused her injury, just that if I had known then she could have been shod accordingly.
Or do you mean specifically ones that have struck into themselves?
I think we had one over reach injury once. Admittedly our chaps aren't really capible of overreaching, I doubt two of them acctually could at all! lol Barney used to brush low and would occaionally cut himself but was fine as long as he wore fetlock boots
Yes which is why she's now in hoof boots. She over reach last year and fell flat on her face. She was unlevel for month afterwards, had to get accupunture and pyhsio to get her sorted. Would go back to metal shoes again
hum can't answer you poll as, my boy has had problems with his feet due to bad farriery how ever it could have happened being barefoot to so not directly linked to shoeing.
my mare has been kicked by another horse with shoes so yes she recieved leg injurys by shoes but not caused by herself
