Hat Cam Reasons

Re. compiling evidence, police can only act if they send them a letter within the following 2 weeks, so they usually only accept footage within a week of the incident.
I wouldnt even leave it that long , ive always called and made that complaing the same day, even if they dont come to get the evidence till the following week

A hatcam is something I was always "gonna get round to" getting, but never did.

Then one day when we were out hacking, an out-of-control off-lead dog attacked my horse. Owner totally denied the incident, claimed that my horse had "spooked" rather than her dog being out of control and having no recall.

I came home that night and purchased a hatcam.

That’s good to know thank you! I haven’t encountered said idiot for a while but will make sure I send it in immediately when I do.
In England it is different you can just submit footage.

In Scotland its still the good old fashioned officer round to the house, take a statement and send the footage to them at the same time

If you have any incidents when riding or driving your horses pleae report them to the horsei app as the statistics are used to identify hot spots and are used for negotiating for calming measures when talking to local and the national government. https://horseincident.bhs.org.uk/HorseIncidents/ReportIncidentStart

How are they actually used? I am not convinced it works, and the app is klutzy and faffy to use. We have been reporting incidents since last year, and our area shows a wee cluster on the map, but we've certainly had no contact from Police Scotland, and both myself and the yard management have attempted to get Stirling Council to put in horse warning signs on the roads near the yard, but that hasn't happened in three years of nagging.

The idea sounds sweet, but I remain cynical about the implementation.

I also have issues with cyclists whizzing up behind us - but I assume nothing can be done about them, maybe the sight of the camera would slow them down

I am sure I tried, there is no option for Scotland! Maybe that has changed now

Mine have only ever been uploads, no need to collect evidence from anyone. That would be a total faff could never guarantee where I would be 😅. You don’t get any updates here though which is a shame, some areas do
