hat cameras, cannot decide which to buy

hi hubby has told me he will buy me a hat camera for Easter but I cannot make up my mind which one I want, I like the look of the go pro hero 3 black and the drift ghost and the contour roam 2 there all about the same amount to buy and a similar size etc only real difference seems to be placement ie on side of hat (drift and contour ) or on a chest harness /top of hat (go pro).

ive looked on you tube for videos of them in use but most of the footage seems to be on bikes,cars etc and often been edited to improve picture and any horse ones ive seen don't seem to mention which camera they are using.

so my question is , those of you that have hat cams which do you prefer and why. also seen a few at the cheaper end of the market but cannot find any footage of them in action so if any of you have one you like let me know.

My brother has the go pro which he uses for mountain biking and the quality is excellent (of video) and it's easy to upload vids and watch them on computer etc camera is also really compact

I will be hijacking it for BE this year;)
 
My OH has a really cheap one for skiing, I think it's called chilli technology. I think the picture quality is brilliant tbh, especially for the price. Only thing I would say is the wind noise is very loud. I am going to be using it for BE this year- will just edit out the sound and put music over the top!
 
I've used my dad's motorcycle head cam which goes on the side of your hat and I much preferred it to the prof photographer's one at Borde Hill which wobbled about on top of my hat.
 
My hubby's got a go pro which we hijacked for a hunter trial once if you search you tube for "Carla and Archerfield" you should see footage, video quality is fantastic however we mounted on on the chest harness and the footage wasn't amazing, we've decided this season we'll try it on the hat. Hubby has some amazing footage he's got when riding his motorbike with it helmet mounted

thanks for your reply, I think that was what I was worried about view wise ,as I want an eye view rather than a chest view lol.
have only seen footage from head view so your comment has been a big help.
