Dont Charles Owen do a hat deodoriser? Try storing your hat somewhere where it will dry better. Could you get some lavender and put it in a bag and then put it in your hat when not in use.

It's not that it smells really, it's just grimey!

So I don't just want to deodorise it, I want to clean it.

I thought you could get some stuff which you sprayed in as a foam, waited for it to dry and then brushed it out... or something.... did I imagine that?!

I've tried these products, as my got smelly last year- gross!

I think they actualy make the hat worse. In the end I washed the hat in a sink of warm water with washing powder in it. The hat seemed fine after.
I also bought a new hat, to give the other one a 'rest'.

Febreeze or Tesco's own version (much cheaper !) does the job...and because it's not 'branded' horsey stuff, it's about half the price

But it's not cause it's smelly, it's cause it's dirty. I want something to get the dirt off

Argh! Am I going to have to buy a new hat?!

More expense! doh!

Yeah....sorry i saw that you had posted that after i made my post

Problem with all these cleaners is that they are detergents, and as such *could* damage the chemical structure of your hat. I doubt too many manufacturers would recommend using anything more than warm water to clean a hat

Ah, good thinking batman.

I might try and give it a scrub with some warm water and mild hand wash detergent.

I don't want to buy a new one as I've not fallen off on this one, and so don't feel as if I've got my money's worth out of it
