I have a Charles Owen skull that was professionally fitted because I was in England at the time in a big tack shop. I have nothing like that near me now and want to get a new hat - if I go for the same size Charles Owen with MIPS by mail order what is the likelihood that it will fit the same as my current hat?
Thanks!

Depends how long ago it was fitted.

If your current hat was fitted in the last couple of years, then yes the size will still be the same.

They changed their sizes or design about 2 to 3 years ago and they seemed to get a little smaller.

I got one with the dial instead and I find that very comfortable and secure.

Ive bought my last two by mail order just becsause I had a lot of trouble with hats, all correctly fitted but gave me an awfuk headache. Had one fitted at a shop that no longer exists and it was perfect. The lady made me sit in it for half an hour to make sure i got no headache.
So I've since just bought that hat in that size with no problem.

It has to be the same style. Inside there will be a symbol or word that says which type of Charles Owen hat you have. If you order exactly the same size and style name, it should fit the same.

I've had loads of Charles Owen hats over the years. They've always been the same size and always fitted fine - from around 2002 to 2023!
I've also had a Uvex on the appropriate shell size that is fine tuned with a dial, ordered online, fits fine

Hopefully you’ll have a better experience than I did ordering internationally (by the sound of it): ordered a Dublin hat in the right size/model which did not give me a headache, from New Zealand.

Paid as much again in import taxes, only to be handed a hat-shaped parcel: it had been packaged without a box, with one layer of bubblewrap and then a plastic bag, to protect it form the inevitable knocks and being dropped/chucked about on its way here.

Contacted them and they promised an immediate refund. Then they obviously realised I was in the UK and could do very little if they didn’t pay, as nothing materialised.

Barry’s Place Saddlery in Wellington, you should be ashamed of yourself.

Mips hats fit quite differently to non mips so doubt you'd be tge same size.

This was my experience last month at a large tack shop I must've tried on about 8/9 different hats if various sizes
