Hat for showing needed...

I am on the look out for a riding hat intended for showing. I can not afford a beagler (although would love one) and do not really want to spend more than £30-40. Can anyone recomend a black velevet hat that will look smart for showing that is also reasonably priced.

I can't think of any strapped hats within your budget at the moment, but I'll let you know if I see anything.

Do a google search for Horka, I got my beagler for cheaper thnan on that website, and they delivered within 2 days.

Just one thing, for showing navy is correct, not black.

If you are doing in hand showing, I have a lovely trilby that I bought from e-bay for £20 which is an option.

If doing local showing, I would not be too bothered as long as it is clean and smart. A flesh coloured strap is also preferable.

For showing you need navy anyway, and if you can onl;y afford one hat can i suggest one with a flesh harness because alot of shows no longer allow beaglers particularly riders club shows

The just toggs one is only £36, it is a junior hat, but it comes in the larger sizes so fits most adults

This hat is for inhand showing for a youngster. So is a beagler correct then or should it be a hat with a chin strap? I know it should be a hard hat though. With regards to colour my outfit consists of beige trousers, lemon yellow shirt with blue and yellow tie and black boots I was planning on going for black as it would match the boots so is blue more correct then? Horse will be wearing a brown inhand bridle with clenched browband and stitched nose band with a chain and leather lead. Does all this sound correct for a youngstock class?

Hi hon if my charles owen sj2000 fits you, you can borrow that

its 6 3/4 black with a flesh coloured harness.
I wore it to show Axey in hand.

ok for inhand, you can wear anyhat, so a beagler or trilby type is fine as is a harnessed het (which i use for the youngstock that i show)
Navy is more correct doesnt matter about what colour your boots are.

As for the bridle, plain noseband and plain browband are prefered unless he is a riding horse or hack type when you can have a nice pretty ribbon browband.

Chain lead is fine as its personal preferance, but i prefer jut leather ones personaly.

Ditto Conniegirl, blue hat (if it's a riding hat type, beagler looks very smart, but a strapped hat is fine if you're worried about being trampled!), and plain bridle for a hunter or velvet browband for a riding horse/hack. If you can change so you don't have a clencher browband it would be better.
