Unexpectedly found myself with a horse a week ago - had pretty much given up looking when one landed in my lap (like they do). So new horse is at a friends yard short term whilst I look for somewhere else. Can't stay at this yard long term as it is full livery, and since I now only work 2 days a week, I can't justify the cost!

So have searched preloved, friday ad, horsemart, pegasus, wealden ad and google and found little, so thought I'd see if any of you guys knew of anything. Found my current yard though you guys and made a good friend out of it so thought you might be able to pull something out of the bag again!

looking for assisted DIY or part livery, good grazing, all year turnout and a school

I'm in Barming, but happy to travel up to half hour if needs be, so that does all around Maidstone pretty much - Barming, east farleigh, wateringbury etc, east/west malling, aylesford, bearsted, detling, even up to stockbury way as that is where I am now. Headcorn way is too far - from where I am I can easily nip onto m20 to get to bearsted and onto detling hill for detling/stockbury/bredgar etc, but don't want to have to go through town for south maidstone.

Wow all those place names (Detling, Bearsted etc) are a blast from the past - I grew up (allegedly) in Kent and learnt to ride (allegedly) at Cobham Manor nr Bearsted. Haven't been there for over 10 years so no idea what it is like for livery etc now, but a look at the website shows it's grown into a competition venue. www.cobham-manor.co.uk

Entirely useless reply, sorry, but enjoying a little reminisce!

What would be suitable very much depends on what is important to you - turnout, hacking, indoor school, high standards from yard manager/other liveries, competitions on site etc.

Wendy Neath, Street Farm, Burham worth a visit (sometimes advertises in Pegasus).

Good outdoor school, knowledgeable manager, toll ride and riding club activities.

How about Lower Cox Street Farm, Detling? Owner is called Penny i think but don't know her surname. Can try and find out phone number for you if you want. I think there is another HHO person there and it looks nice when i ride past.

hi i'm at lower cox street. Its full at the mo, but i can pass on contact details to YO if op wants. Fantastic place - i'm still waiting for 'the catch' 2 years later :)

OP i sent you a PM - can be a bit of a technophob so let me know if you didn't get it.

No experiance of wendy neaths yard but i've heard good things about it when i was looking.
