Guy I know owns two Siberian Huskies. He got the first one towards the start of the summer and the second one a few months later.

He built a pen just before getting the first one and I said to him that he either needed bigger fence panels or a roof. No, no he said, not a chance they could get over it. I said well, we'll see as I've seen GSDs clear 7ft easily. Also said when he got the second dog that the pen wouldn't be big enough. And also that their garden wasn't secure.

Well, for the third time yesterday, one of the dogs escaped. Got collected and taken to Carryduff, an animal shelter a good 45mins away (previously owners had been in the house, seen dog get out and was able to be caught easily) Cost them to get the dog released.

Would it be rude to say 'I told you so'?

7ft is nothing, dog in my siggie can jump out over 9ft she runs sideways at it like the pole vaulters. She can also get out of just about any hole, therefore her kennel is completely meshed to the hilt! lol.

Anything outside like that should be roofed, easily and cheaply enough to do.

Fence panels are only 6ft! They reckoned no dog would be able to clear. I was like hmm, yeah ok *cough* So I reckon I have the right to say it

It's a horrid little pen anyways.

Poor doggies.

You say this is the third time the dog has escaped! Are they planning to do something about it yet?

These kind of things really make me mad

- why can't people just act responsibly with their animals!

This often happens with sibes, people go for the pretty foxy look before realising they have a totally unrully running machine on their hands with no scruples about escaping and running a muck, killing any small animals it encounters on it's walkabout!

What are they doing with these poor dogs? do they work them? God they must be bored out of their minds and hyped right up if they don't have anything to do. With a few exceptions they are not pets but serious working dogs with an attitude to match, who cannot be trusted off lead to exercise themselves and to boot they have a strong pack mentality so look out if they get out together!

They are the worst breed for novices and people with no time to exercise and care for them! It makes my blood boil. They are unfortunate in looking cute especially puppies!!
