I have no problem with people riding without a hat - their choice and hats are heavy if you ride all day everyday but why put a had on your head and not do it up? I just get it can someone explain???

mmmmm, you are right and funnily enough today when cooling down after schooling I did undo my hat and was wondering if anybody would tell me off ( they didn't.)

having said that when I was growing up we only had the elastic chin strap. when Ever I had to buy a new hat the first thing to go was the chin strap. this was youth dressage and ponyclub.
I have fallen off so many times and my hat ( that fitted properly) never came off.

so in all yes I agree why not do it up but I am not one to talk.

Not all hats are heavy, I wear a Tipperary Driving helmet, and it is so light I once wore it in the supermarket! People who ride with no hat are taking an unjustified risk.
