When I ride my head gets so hot, it's plastered onto my head after just even a hack. I need a new hat and like the showjumper style hats (blue velvet with flesh coloured chin strap) but wonder if I should go with a hat with vents. Does anyone else have sweaty head issues

and do you find the hats with vents make any difference?

I have a very vented hat, my hair now never gets greasy and its usually very comfy to wear. However in the icy wind today, I was thinking a warmer version might be better

The vents have be proven to not be a safety hazard (unless being chased by locals with pointy pitchforks!).

I have the Champion Ventair and find it is much better for avoiding a sweaty head (which I used to get with my other one)

I bought a Poly hat from Hickstead, best purchase I ever made! Vented and lightweight, and really nice looking. Incredibly cheap too

Yes I get a very hot head and I am also looking at vented hats. There are a number on the market from Polly to GPA depending on just how much cash you have to spend.

My OH has GPA's, but usually finds them on Ebay, I like the look of the Troxel hats from Airowear.

Thanks everyone. The normal hat I have now gives me eczema on my forhead too. Are there any 'traditional' looking vented ones out there that look a bit more normal (for want of a better word) rather than looking plasticy like a bike hat if you see what I mean?

I bought a Champion Ventair in one last attempt to stop getting serious headaches when riding. If it didn't work I was going to have to quit as rding for 1/2 hour left me with a headache no amount of painkillers would shift and it would last all day.

Bought the peaked version and it was fantastic, the headaches disappeared immediatly. Was gutted when I broke it by landing on my head out XC training last year; learnt my lesson and bought the Ventair skull which is equally as good!!

Champion Ventair saved me from quitting riding

I have one of the champion SJ hats. It is slightly ventilated and i find that the ventilation is enough just on that

Love my GPA one which has vents. They are pricey but you can find them on Ebay for a good price sometimes

My head never gets hot in it. The best skull hat is my J3, again has been good for my hot head. Both are very lightweight and so comfy.

I have had a GPA and now have a champion vent air. The GPA hardly ever gave me a sweaty head, but wasnt as comfy as my vent air, which is the nicest hat I have ever had, and the lining is really really soft so should prevent sore skin on forehead!! the vent air does give enough ventilation to reduce hat head!!

I got a vented one with a velvety cover from Decathlon (was a couple of years or so ago now). which has a harness in it like a bike helmet. I have to say, they feel a bit flimsy to me so I wear my traditional one most of the time unless going for a long ride in hot weather.
I think I saw the Polly ones in Tesco Extra, they might have them online?
