Does anyone else here use the Hauptner 2000 clippers with a purple case? If so have you had any problems with the cable breaking inside the clipper head causing the clipper to cut in and out as you move it around? We are a busy yard and are now on a second pair of clippers, the first having been replaced to due the fault recurring and now after six horses we are back with the same problem again. Are we rubbish at clipping ( in more years than I care to admit to I have not had this problem before!) or is there a problem with Hauptner cables?

I have two sets of Hauptner 2000 clippers, my first pair I have had for 7 years and the second set for two years. I have neverhad no problems with either set, I have two sets as it means I can clip with one pair while the others are resting and cooling down which means i can do 3 horses in one day and get the horrible job over and done with quicker.

Just the one set but only one horse, had for last 3 years and ok, struggle sometimes with the tension but otherwise ok

I have one set too, had them about 4 years. Have only one horse but at my last livery yard YO used them for 4 of her horses.

The only problem is like above - the tension.

Yes I have had the exact problem with my Hauptner2000's and I sent them to Hauptners UK agent for repair- where the cable is wrapped around in the case the cable gets weak, so they had to sort it out/repair and I have a friend who has them too and the same thing happened- she has sold hers!

I've stopped using my Hauptners as can't stand them and have bought some Listers this year. To be honest in my opinion Hauptner 2000 clippers may be heavy duty but they are extremely unreliable and are so precise it causes problems..

It is a problem on some clippers, especially where the lead enters the rubber sleeve at the back of the machine. I normally cut of about 6 inches, when a machine comes in for service and re connect the cable to ensure the best connection. I haven't noticed it to be a "purely Hauptner" problem, but it is a pain when it happens!
