It's called a Coat King, has 60 very fine teeth and can decamate(sp?) a shaggy winter coat in minutes without damaging the new summer one underneath. Thought I'd share that with y'all
Thankyou! Yes it would work on a shaggy native. Got it on line from 'Peasridge'. They do all sorts of sizes and variations on teeth depending on coat being fine/long etc.
I opted for the extra wide/fine one which was just shy of 40 quid (ouch) but will save me clipping while its still quite cold.
Ooooh! That sounds an ace find Custardsmum! Gonna have a look for it right now. I have a very shaggy rescued native girl who had to have some serious veterinary input due to ragwort poisoning where she was before. Consequently, she is on red alert at the mere THOUGHT of anyone clipping any hair off coz she thinks it means NEEDLES and SCALPELS. Is this comb thing like a tail rake? Does it pull? I was hoping you might have dragged it through your own hair to sort of test it???
It's like a wider version of the tail rake but with more teeth. You just rake it through the coat and it has a kind of satisfying 'pull' as it slices though the longer hairs and pulls the loose ones, quite addictive!
I would think it works best on longer, denser coats as it had no effect on Will' who has a TB coat but enjoyed the sensation. It's had more effect on Cat with his WB woollies and my friend's WB cos she keeps nicking it. It doesn't leave the coat looking clipped just more 'streamlined'.
They used to have a video of it being used and it looked like a light clip. You can get a fine or a coarse blade according to the coat and it is £36.95. It is very good
