Driving home from the yard tonight I came round a bend and straight into a herd of loose horses which were flat out galloping up the road. Before anyone asks I was not speeding the police said there was no way I could have avoided them and if i hadn't been driving slowly they reckoned I would have been dead. Anyway the good news is the horses were rounded up and apparently only minor injuries - a couple have cuts to their legs. I'll try and find out more tomorrow as I know the yard they escaped from. My car however is a write off. So a few H&H hugs would be appreciated :(
 
Oh blimey , what a horrible shock for you , glad you're OK and the horses too , cars can be replaced - you can't, sounds very frieghtening , have a stiff whisky and count your blessings..
 
Oh bloody hell. Try not to worry too much, you and the horses were okay, and its not something ANYONE expects.
Have a stiff drink, get to bed and I hope you feel a little easier in the morning.

Thanks, I'm just worried that the horses may have seemed alright at the time but could be in shock - I hope their owners got a vet out to check them over.
 
First hugs (((()))). What a horrid experience. You were indeed lucky you were driving slowly....the outcome could have been so much worse, for horses AND you.

Some idiot drivers could do to take heed of this and be a little lighter on the pedals.

yes have a hot sweet drink...don't know why but even as a die hard pure black no sugar coffee addict, I even turn to sugary white tea in times of trouble...

Thank God you were driving slowly too and as shocked as you are, try think of it in a positive way..nothing seriously hurt..new car..oh and you are in shock...but that is a good sign that you are still very much ALIVE :)x the times I've seen cars flying along twisty lanes just blaring their horns instead of slowing for blind corners...makes me shudder..

You were very lucky I've seen & had to deal with very similar situations & its hard even when you're there soon after, let alone while its happening..maybe everyone that reads this will make sure they:

watch their speed..wear their seatbelts..don't use their phones..and think *(insert word)* (bike/horse/child) lecture over from an ex firefighter sending trauma reducing mars bars!(they as good as tea)
Hope you get a good sleep...lavender oil bath /aromatherapy oil on temples is a good little helper too xx
 
Lots of hugs from here too , advise bath bed and hot milk with whiskey and honey and a squirt of lemon juince sounds awful but is just the thing at a moment like this.
 
Jeepers! Well done you for driving at such a sensible speed that you and the horses all came out of the episode alive and with only minor injuries. Sorry to hear about the car, and it must have been an awful shock. Be kind to yourself.
 
How horrific. I'm sure I'd be very shaken up. So glad you're okay physically. Hope you've got friends or family around to comfort you. Big hugs. xx
 
OMG how frightening you are very lucky to be alive! Big hugs and get yourself a stiff drink sounds like you need it.

Hope all the horses are ok and you feel a bit better tomorrow.

Sometimes horses surprise you by how tough they are. I was involved in an accident a few years ago (driver 100% at fault though) where the car was written off; both horse and I had no more than a couple of scratches.

How horrible, but you are very lucky you are ok - just remember that. A car is replaceable and this was noone's fault but what a horrid shock. If the horses have managed to walk back to the yard then I would think they are more than likely ok. I have helped catch a horse before that collided with a car - car a write off. Although the horse was panicked it got away with just a minor cut.

It is a big fear of mine encountering loose horses on a road, at night more thann anything. You are ok, that's what matters.
 
How horrid and what a shock

When you have had a chance to have a nice hot bath and a drink sit down and write down absolutely everything you can remember about the evenings, timings, position in road etc... everything you can while your mind is fresh so you have the answers to any questions at hand
 
A car can be replaced, a horrible shock at least you were going slow to many people dont nowadays, hope you feel better this morning, horses surprise us sometimes with just how tough they are. X
 
hope you are feeling a bit better. I think the fear of what might have been takes a while to get to grips with.
Thank good ness you are in one peice and hopefully all horses are OK.
