I cannot believe that it's even legal. It's one thing using tax payers money but quite another taking people's personal savings.

The UK policy of quantitative easing does much the same thing to all savers by printing more money and making each pound worth less. It's just less brazen!

Better take your money out of the banks now and stuff it under the mattress before the rest of the EU follows this wonderful way of getting free money.

I'd rather have my money stolen by a burglar who at least has the decency to admit he's a thief.

Bizarre...but it does highlight how desperate things are.

On a similar note, Iceland got away with 'stealing' peoples' money. I can't understand how or why....so nothing any government does or will do now will surprise me.

Catch 22. If they didn't do something to save the economy 100% of those savings would have quickly become worthless anyway. Drastic times, drastic measures.

Our governments have been robbing from us for all eternity, they just do it on the sly and not brazenly like the Cypriots.
