Have rugged up first time since winter!

My boy 19 yrs old toughie pony and friends youngster, she is on holiday. Have tonight turned out with lightweight rugs as rain is forecast for most of the night. Suddenly feels much milder, hope I have done the right thing.

I have rugged my working horse in a lw so he stays clean tomorrow, but the others are without - it's pelting down here at the mo, but the cob seems happy enough - she's fat anyway, so won't hurt her to use some of her reserves to keep warm!

We've been rugging our old girl when it's been raining and windy, she's 29 and wintered quite badly, and she gets rainscald quite easily.
It's tough because the weather keeps changing so quickly but she's seemed happy enough being a little too warm when it's turned nice before we've been able to take it off her.

My girl has been rugged for most the day today. Have started rugging her up when it rains as when grooming the other day found a patch of rain scold:(!!. Fell like such a bad mummy!!

Nevermind rugging all but 2 at our yard have come in tonight!!!

I went up to feed my mare who couldn't stand still through shivering so much to eat!! Opened the gate and she basically hauled me back to the yard and dived into her stable with door open and refused to come back out!!!!! And it's not even cold! She just doesn't like getting exceptionally wet!! The 2 left out bless em are natives and still unrugged!!

mines in too - left her naked during the day but went down at 4pm to bring her in to dry off and put a rain sheet off and she came galloping over and stood shivering for an hour whilst she dried off so I have left her in along with the rest of the yard!

PMSL, I thought it was only Mick that was like that.

Both ours have lightweight rain sheets on, but I am always ready to go and get them. 10pm is the latest time I will go out to them.

Our are all in, with LWs on (big open barns, the rain comes in if the wind blows that way). Our fields have no shelter and it has been pouring since 12pm non stop and is forecast to continue for the next 24 hrs+. In fact ours have had LWs on in the field for the last 3 nights as it has been cold and wet. I can see my breath here, and I need a jumper and coat outside to be comfortable, so I am positive I have done the right thing :)

My horse and my mums horse are tucked up in their stables with a fleeces on. We started bringing Them in at night for the winter yesterday. I'm glad we have as it's pouring here and we have a severe weather warning. Both horses are TB's and do not do well in constant rain and high winds, they shiver and lose weight and they end up getting upset and gallop around their field.
If I had a native or cob it would still be out but I may put a l/w on if they had no shelter ;)
I like to baby my tb :)

My little TB is out there naked I do hope she is ok! Then again, I was really worried the other day when it was raining all night and she was totally fine when I saw her the next day. Sometimes we worry too much for them me thinks?! Actually, I think she is much better getting wet and being able to dry off naturally than standing all night with a cold/ soaked rug, well, that's how it seems at the moment anyway. (Hopes horse is really ok ...).

I need to keep an eye on her weight though so will see... but weather so unpredictable I didnt want to rug up at 20 degrees earlier and yet it is now so wet and has cooled off.
