Whilst mucking out today in sub zero temps, my thoughts strayed to warmer times and lovely hacks in the warm sunshine of summer. I then remembered being totally hounded and driven mental (me and horse) by dreaded horse flies, or clegs as we call them in scotland. They were actually biting through my jods and jeans.
I understand that the larvae survives in water until hatching. All the ponds have been totally frozen for months, so do you think that it freezing temps will have killed off all the vicious little b'stards?
I usppose it might mean the same for midgies.
Imagine a summer, or forever without being attacked by these things, how blissful will life be.
