Have you bathed your horse yet?

um, yep.......several times......all winter long..........thank god for clipped horses, and heat lamps.could NOT deal with 6 months of crud build up, eeeeuw!

the bay gets hot clothed once a week in winter, bathed once a week in summer and the grey gets bathed once a week all year round and spot washed every single day.........

Going to bath the hairy pony today, my daughter is having her lesson on his this afternoon so will bath him once they have finished as i expect he'll be a bit warm! He is moulting so much its ridiculous!

Had mane tail and feathers done but having first full bath today -show next week but he'll need at least 2 between now and then- who'd have a mainly White traddy cob? Oh that's right me!

:D:D:D Shampoo day TODAY !!!!!! YIPEEEEEEEEEE!!! :D:D:D

I adore bathing Shy - he drinks from the hose, tries to lick me, shakes at inappropriate moments, dances, he's fab ;) And once he's been conditioned too, when he's dry he comes up like a winning show cob - I love it.

And the good thing is that he's not a roller, so he looks stunning for weeks.

Roll on this weather !!

Never bath my horse, except on a very hot day after a very sweaty ride, when she gets a sloppy (i.e. lots of warm water) sponge down. Does that make me a very bad Mum? I always reckon that nature does it for her. she lives out 24/7.

This! I sponge Belle down if she has been sweating a lot during a ride but that's it. She lives out 24/7, we don't compete and she doesn't enjoy it so I don't see the point really. I would consider it this summer on a really hot day just to cool her down but I can't see myself progressing further from sponging.

Noah has been bathed once because he has a skin problem so we might need to do this on a regular basis whilst he's losing his winter coat. I will wash the older pony's tail because he makes a mess of it but the shetland will go groomed but unwashed.

I'm sure horses don't need it unless they're sweaty bettys, but the way a piebald comes up after a bath is just lush. And it gets all that hair out too, and winter scurf.

We got 3 done today.

Shetland was fine, Section A tried to kill me, and the big horse did his usual trick and tried to eat the hosepipe.....BUT we got them done in the end!

:D

Did them all with Dermoline insecticide shampoo....can't say I've seen anything nasty when inspecting, but just in case, it won't hurt. :D

The persil pony is now white again :) He still has rather sticky ears but like all little boys he rather dislikes having his ears washed ;) They are decidedly cleaner but compared to the rest of his bright- white look they are a little yellow! We did put his fly rug on before he went back out as he did just as expected and rolled and rolled and rolled!
