Toto got clipped the Friday before last, he was very very woolly. Last year we waited until November but he seemed to be a lot fluffier this year. He's in medium work, schooling, hacking, jumping, the odd competition/xc schooling
He had a hunter clip and is only clipped once a year as he has to be sedated, but it lasts for the whole of winter becuase we keep him nice and warm
QR- I attempted to clip my horse today... didn't get very much done. He needs sedated to be clipped as he's v tickly, thught i'd have a bash see how much i got done wthout sedation. I now have a hairy horse with a bald shoulder
. Will need to get him sedated ths week to get it finished off.
Clipped mine last week, took the lot off apart from legs and half head. Her coat had become very long and dense very quickly! shes a cob x and in an ever increasing amount of work. I have a feeling she'll need doing again before the end of the winter.
yes fully clipped twice will clip again next week when i get my blades back, she is in what you class as hard work, schooled hacked or competed at least 6 days a week
Clipped last weekend, hunter clip but with face left on cos I can't get near his face with clippers!
I've put that he's in hard work because he's done a few day's cubbing and will hunt maybe every 3 weeks in summer. He won't hunt hard, but he'll have to do a fair amount of fast work/schooling/jumping to keep him fit enough for those hunting outings.
Interesting poll! I clipped mine 2 weeks ago, he was itchy as buggery and I couldn't work him properly without waiting for 4 hours for it all to dry out
Meant to say that my boy will be clipped next week (half term for us). He has a high dealer/trace (whatever you like to call it). Luckily he's not sweating loads coz he seems to have a finer set of fluff this year, although once he's clipped it may be a different story.
