As title...... Having just spent an hour and a half changing the batteries on my horsebox, I was curious as to how many other females on here have done the same before. The men say we are the weaker sex, but hey my terminals had rusted on (last guys had not lubricated them before putting them on). I not only succeeded to undo them and remove the bracket holding them still. I got both yes both (my box is 24v) off.

Now with the skirt on my lorry only 18 inches high from the ground and the area to work on in the dark is 2 feet. I manage to lift the new batteries up and under truck then up onto the battery tray then reconnect them and wavoooom the lorry went.

You have to put grease on the terminals to make removal easier. Hubby was very proud I did it.

I AM NOW READY FOR SPONSORED RIDE 2 MORROW:D

Last week i had to jump start it as 24 v horse boxes are a pain to jump start. And delay our start time.

cookies and coco for any other cleaver gals:D

I have sciatica and bad back but managed with hubby passing the spanners.

Come on gals who else has changed theirs??????

Have done it and wouldn't hesitate to do it again..I check all the lorries levels and top up if needed..I love to tinker with mechanical things and regularly service my Defender..

I've changed tyres on my trailer :) not much but I was proud of myself! also impressed when I managed to change my car headlight bulb in the dark.

my friends said why not make my boyfriend do the tyres, but I was determined to do it myself! also sanded painted the whole trailer myself (was a do up job!) and been underneath it putting new bolts in.

Feels good doesn't it. I have also replaced the waste pipes under my caravan too.

I am a chick who will try and have a go at anything. As we all know these batteries are heavy. managed one with hubby helping a little but hail came down and he sheltered so i had to pull under the second one and lift it up onto the tray .

I have also changed my Terrano battery too .

My other job is to jack up my pontiac and paint underseal waxoil on to it .

I have painted the under of the horsebox with wood preserver before.

I have once - pain in the back side (and back!!) , then I fitted an isolator switch most useful £5 small piece of plastic ever - no more flat lorry batteries ever. I recommend one.
I suspect it's quite a good anti theft device too as you'd have to have a key to get it moving, and it'd be a pretty organised theif to bring a selection of makes of isolator key!

Get a little solar panel it will keep your battery topped up if you leave it standing for a couple of weeks. Am loving mine

Could do a battery cos in my lorry its inside floor of the cab, I've jumped it few times carry jump leads ow and know where to fix them under bonnet .

I once swapped the battery off my frontera onto my (12v) ford cargo in desperation ...i got to the show :) and home again :D

lets face it, us horsey girls have to be practical :) with a hoof pick and baler twine, there isnt much we cant fix lol!

They work perfectly well if you hook one up to each of the 12V batteries though!

battery underneath body so the only place you can......................... is plug into a cigarette lighter which i have only 1 not 2. leaving on the floor risks of getting broke.

also

did not put enough charge in sorry so i gave up, went for an isolator instead.

Why on earth do you want to get a cigarette lighter involved? Wire roof mounted panel to terminals!

Its the one I brought it connected up to the cigarette lighter, as my caravan one does it sits in the window plugged into the mains

Doesn't matter now I will just charge it up from the yard power socket fully charged in a few hours:)
