my sister used a blue rinse on her dapple grey mare once, she was told it would make her shine. It didn't really make much differance (and this was a while ago!)

I am afraid so. We transformed a clipped out little chestnut pony into a bay for a side saddle display team years ago.

We used eye lash dye for her mane (we couldn't get anything else to take), very expensive, but it worked. We 'polished' her body with black spray from a joke shop every day and used that on her pulled tail.

I spent the whole week with the most disgusting black nails and hands!

It worked though. Quite a few people who knew the pony well asked me which pony it was as they did not know we had a bay.

My friend bought a horse off a local dealer and after a few weeks its muzzle went grey. We are sure they hair dyed it to sell as younger that it was. Was a Chestnut.

Yes when I worked in Showing, we used to dye horses in the summer if their coats were fading. Not properly dye them a different colour - it was more of a 'wash' or a tint to bring out the colour of their coat.

I think the make we used was Champion Tails - and it worked well. Word of warning though, if they have socks that you don't want tinting, try and cover them up in some way... I was 'tinting' a chestnut and the dye ran down and turned his white socks a tangerine colour! Needless to say my boss was not amused...

Nor when I turned her dapple grey into an Iron Grey as I'd made the mixture too strong... Oops!

Clairol Nice n Easy is excellent for covering the grey hairs from scars/ rubs etc. They do a root touch up kit that i find very useful

always do a skin test first but i havent had any problems with this brand.

yep- used to dye the nasty sun faded patches in mates friesan and my show cobs tail. i think its fine as long as you test first.... my friend has also used a hot oil traetment on th efriesans mane for extra shine which worked well xx

I once had a purple zebra on the yard, courtesy of some children, summer holiday boredom, a far too co-operative grey pony and a livery leaving a bottle of purple spray lying around.

I rather had in mind an all over darker colour for my grey for the winter...hate all that mud! Veg dyes or maybe henna. Did plan to ask the vet....she will think I am loopy
