Your experience sounds horrific Kerrilli, & I agree with you that these things happen because you have gone to whoever for help, assuming that they know more than you. Hence when I was told how hopeless I was & how my mare would never jump & I should put her in Reading market, I started to believe it. Great that its proved to be untrue in my case tho, didn't work out so well for you & I truly am shocked.

Sounds to me as if "this woman" rode your horse rather better than you did at the time.
Your Instructor was trying to prove a point by putting someone else on board - who could press the right buttons and make things work with your neddy.
You are only JEALOUS because someone else got a tune out of your horse - and you could not.
Why would you not swap horses?
Presumably due to the fact that you knew damn well that you could not ride one side of the other horses in that group??
Yet again, someone thinking that lots of money can make the difference.
Sorry to disappoint you - but it is Abilty and NOT Money which makes a partnership which works with a person and a horse.
GROW UP and stop behaving like a spoilt child.
MONEY will NOT turn you into a horse-woman.
Your attitude just makes the REAL horsey people laugh even more at people such as yourself.

..... in my defence, this was with a world-famous trainer (of the GB team) with loads of people watching. when he got on, i had absolutely no idea of what he was going to do. i simply thought he'd ride better than me .....

Yes - he IS a world famous trainer and presumably, due to the fact that he IS - would prove the point that he DOES, actually, ride better than yourself.
You very obviously have a seriously over-rated opinion of your own riding ability.
Are YOU ever likely to become a GB trainer? Very doubtful.

Mr Woof - if the instructor was so wonderfull - why could he not get on and do it then!
Secondly if I am paying to learn, why should I pay for for my horse to be ridden by some lump with spurs on when it is a slight 15.2 tb ! - as I get to pay the vets bills - and if I want to ride another type of horse - then I will go and buy one!

Last point - how do people learn then? - as according to you all good horse people are "born" and you I am sure have probalby never had a lesson in your life and were doing advanced dressage on a lead rein !

Not saying you can not have an opinion but was there any reason to be so rude? Oh and dont tell me - you were just back from picking your team for the olympics were you ?

Very!!

Though to be fair, I might be persuaded to let a trusted friend or instructor get on my horse, but absolutely NO WAY would I let some bystander be allowed to get on him, even if my instructor tried to bully me in to doing so. I would verbally question why they feel that approach would be useful, and even then, would be wary.

Why did you let the other person on your horse?
