Nailed, my old horse is by Carlingford Castle, so out of touch hadn't realised he had died. Saw him once and he was a nasty piece of work but knew three of his offspring that were the nicest horses!!
Have you ever made a random phone call about your horse's past ....

Have done so a few times
First was a welsh cob, bit of a nightmare tale, I called his breeder and found out he was sold by her at 6 months old. He was the only foal she had never managed to get a head collar on and was herded into the lorry. That explained a lot
Next was an ISH I rang his old owner, she had had him bred but he grew way too big for her. She said he had a lovely up bringing and was backed by a really good guy (that showed) what couldn't be understood was his dangerous behaviour on the ground especially around food (so something happened in the 12 months between her an dme
Then I traced Beacon's owners through NH someone on there recognised his name and passed me details, I foudn out he was in the middle of a divorce and left in the field. New woman comes along with her own horse and just couldn't take to him as he belong to ex. he craved a one on one so they had him backed, but he kept bucking everyone off. After re trying 12 months later they sold him on
Then I contacted anothers breeder, he told me his sire was a bit of a handful so watch out. Boy was he right
Haven't yet written to see what I can find out about Micah as he comes from Czech republic

oh and I traced the owner of an ex racer I had for a few weeks too, he told me he retired due to a minor wind problem and that he gave him away so long as he never raced again
All have been really pleased to have contact and some I have kept in touch with. I love to know the history of my horses if I can and when especially amazed to find Beacon's history just from his name and general area, I would have stood no chance if he had a 'normal' name lol
