I have been with the same vets for a number of years and never questioned a bill until recently. Now I wasn't disputing the bill just asking for an explanation as to why x rays cost 'x' amount last time and a lot more this time.

I was told the vet concerned was annoyed I had questioned the bill, wasn't given an explanation for the difference but knocked the difference between the 2 x rays off the bill.

I did not question it to cause trouble or to get money off my bill but I have been made to feel very guilty for questioning it in the first place.

Has anyone else had the same experience?

We used to charge a fixed rate for x-raying and a charge for each plate used. Could it be that more images were taken the second time?!

Rhino they did use 4 extra plates to do the same x ray, that was why I asked for an explanation. I wasn't implying anything by it but was really upset by the reaction I got.

CS that is an awful lot of bute. Lol

yes I did on Friday for the first time ever! Got £50 quid knocked off wouldn't have done that I shouldn't imagine if they had thought it was reasonable!

Yes I had a £6000 quote for op and 4 weeks stay

I got a bill after losing my horse at 18 days in for £9,500

£3000 for antibiotics alone for 18 days?

I questioned it they reacted badly, I reacted worse and got the bill down to £4,400

I will never use them again

I told them that she wasn't insured (2 year old) and that lead shot would cure her so not to get carried away, they couldn't pin point what was wrong (said 'virus') and reduced the bill from 1200 down to 800!
