A horse for sale and thought I want that horse??.I have seen a photo on Horsemart and i have fallen in love with it!.I dont have the money but am seriously thinking of trying to raise the money. It is a two year old and very similar to my boy Flint (maybe thats why i like it so much).Have you ever bought off a photo just because you have a gut feeling?..The horse is in the west midlands and i'm in cornwall but would go for it!!.Or am i just dreaming and need a slap!.

When I saw Bel's ad I just said "I want!!"

She looked so stunning in it, and the wording showed she ticked every box for me

Only slight problem was her price

but I couldn't sleep for about a week thinking of how blooming perfect she seemed. I was literally trying to chill out in the evenings with a dvd on something - but had to keep popping back to look at her ad

She captivated me THAT much!!

After a week, I did the sums, worked out my max budget should they agree to drop the price some, and called up about her
grin.gif
She's been mine for a month now and I am still in shock that I'm lucky enough to call her mine!

Thats how i feel Puppy.I cannot stop thinking about the horse.I am not usually so spontanious (sp) but i really want this horse *stomps feet like a spoilt child*.My Hubby even likes him and has been dropping hints about another horse. It's just the money!.I could beg, borrow or rob a bank if i had to!!.Argghhhh it's doing my head in!!.

YUP!! I fell in love with my boy from a photo on an advert on the internet. He was in the Lake District and i am in Cornwall too! He was also way over my budget but nothing else came close! So just a little over 2 years ago my hubby took me up there to see him (on the back of his motorbike

!) and i bought him!!

He was worth every penny! x

Gotta be worth a look surely.............

I was exactly the same about Swallow!

Off Horsemart and didn't see her til she walked off the lorry here but it nearly didn't happen!
I saw the ad, liked her in spite of her condition, but was trying to tell myself I didn't/shouldn't want another, left it a few days and when I couldn't NOT ring, was told she was already spoken for, due to be collected the next day.

Something made me give them my number 'just in case' but I didn't hear anything and started looking around again. A week later I get a call to say the people had been messing them about, saying they'd collect and not turning up, they did that three times and that was enough for the owners so they rang me. I'm still totally smitten by the little mare so don't give up hope; give the owners a ring and sound them out, they might be willing to take installments or something cos two years olds aren't usually great sellers; you could leave your number and hope!

Yes!
Axels advert and his photo was on the notice board of my local feed merchants. I was 6 months pregnant at the time and definately not looking for a horse, never mind a 1/2 Arab yearling!
I kept thinking about him and the next day I went back and took the ad and photo off the board
blush.gif

When I showed the picture of Axey to my friends they all agreed he was lovely, and also agreed it wasn't a good time for me to buy another horse. I still went and saw him though, and my OH was given strict instructions to stop me from buying him

Some chance, Steve liked him so much he bought him for me!

4 years later I still have him, he's a lovely 5 yr old and I love him to bits

I saw loads on horsemart and other websites last year but sadly they were either unsuitable for my needs, too much or too far away. That didn't stop me from wanting them though. I fell in love with a lovely cob type that I think was 3 but he was for sale too early as my house remortgage etc didn't complete until September last year and it was not until that month that I could start looking seriously for a horse and sadly a lot of the one's whose details I had saved on the pc had been sold.
My lad is on permanent loan and the minute I saw him and sat on him for a short ride I knew I wanted him even though I didn't really want to loan as I wanted two of my own that I owned.
When we went to the auction though and it was a toss up between leominster (brightwells) or York sales there were a few we crossed off to look at in the cat. York had only about 8 that were suitable for my daughter with regard to age, height and what they had done as we didn't want anything unbroken really.
At the Leominster sales we bid on a couple we liked and one my daughter was smitten with was an appaloosa mare. She was really nice though and was a spotted strawberry roan aged 11 years and 16h and had been a good jumping horse and then brood mare and brought back into work. We all liked her but of course when daughter expressed an interest in her she was told a fairly high reserve had been put on her. Anyway my only concern was that she had a puffy fetlock joint on one of her rear legs which the owner said she had done when kicked by a stallion when being covered. It worried me that there was a scar and I thought it was the mares that kicked out, hence boots and hobbles and why they are sometimes used.
I was worried about it and also for insurance purposes the leg may have been a write off too.
Anyway in the ring she fetched 2,100 although we did put a bid in for her. Sadly I had worked out the vat and premium wrong. I had been told twice both on the phone and beforehand at the sales when I asked about charges that it was 5% plus vat on the price. I assumed this meant 5% and then an additional 17 1/2% of the amount. After being to other auctions ( not horse ones) I was used to vat and buyers premium and vat meant vat. I only had so much cash on me and that had to pay for transport too so I thought that 2,100 would equate to over 2,500 with the fees etc.
Was then pretty pisd off to find that I was only charged £99 in fees for the price I paid for Mcfly.
It meant that as I had not been told correctly we could have afforded a few other horses we had bid on beforehand which I then stopped when I got to a certain figure for fear of the premium etc.
Still we are happy we got Mcfly in the end but yes I can fully understand where you are coming from about seeing a horse you really want as there were a few that day we were taken with but wrongly thought we couldn't afford.
And Puppy lol yes I have heard that saying it's only money as I'm sure they said it at the Leominster sales lol.

i saw a mare on a catalogue - a lot number and a desctiption, went to the sales and bought her. that was without a picture, she's being amazing so far- ok its only been since thursday. as with the other gelding i bought - he's super, but one is not so good, but it will come. but saying that they were only around £500 each.
i think buying on gut instinct makes the horse good, as you are so determind to put in the effort and make it the horse you want it to be- if you are carefull not to rush it. good luck with whatever you decide!!! x

is a slightly different situation but kind off....

in october 2005 my old loan horse was sold. I didnt know she was even being sold until the day before she went. It would have been a year to the day that i had been loaning her for the day after she went

I was heart broken as i loved her so much

Anyway i finally moved on and then started helping out with another horse (ironically a horse is an ajacent field)
after a few month of helping out with this horse my neddy came along a bit worse for wear...(for sale as he had been neglected and he had come to the yard for someone to take care of him) but i fell in love with him at once! though like you he reminded me loads of my old loan mare except he has a star, so that may have something to do with it.

the other horse i was helping out with went lame as she had bruised feet so i was allowed to ride cal. and that confirmed to me even more i wanted him even though he was very nervy and nappy and thered no way would you get him out on his own!

so in july 2006 i bought him and 10 months down the line, hes a perfect little gentleman who would do anything for you
grin.gif

and i love him to bits

if you like the horse and have a good gut feeling id say go and have a look at it!

Yep, I "accidentally" ended up buying one of Delphipuppy's fabulous foals that way ... I blame Bonzabean and Nic01 personally!

Go for it! I did exactly the same thing last year, I wasn't looking to buy at all, just having a browse and there she was - a chocolate filly foal and as soon as I saw her picture I just knew I had to have her.....

... and I don't buy other people's foals!
