Have you ever seen a saddle like this one?

In all the years I have been working with saddles, I must confess I have never seen one in the flesh so to speak but would like to get my hands on one and strip it down.

Is it a one off custom item, or an 'off the peg design' so to speak?

eta Id love to see inside it, the tree must be fascinating.

Never seen one, and am now wondering how long backed the horse that carried it would have to be!

Would it not have a fairly normal tree and panels and just have a bit added on to split the seat in to 2 small ones?

Seen similar on the internet where there is a small seat at the front of the saddle for a child.

No idea. I imagine its pretty normal looking from underneath, its how theyve managed to split into two seats im trying to figure.

Looks long to me, more a 'Gretna Green' type saddle than parent and child.

Don't know if it was a one off or not, it's for a young student, has 2 sets of stirup bars and the head is higher slightly than the "first" cantle to help keep young student secure.
Second cantle is usual height.

What length is the other?

Not too sure I would want an adult sitting that far back. I had visions of the original one having two children on it. I'll see if I can make a picture of what I imagine it to look like.

YorksG - the one I saw had a bigger seat behind that sat in a normal position and a smaller one over where the cantle would be for the child.

I saw one today...in Toys R Us...on a Barbie horse and thought, poor Barbie horse with a rider sitting that far back on his back!!!
