Sorry this is a pointless post but a very public praise for my lovely OH who not only checks my neds in the morning and feeds in the evenind when I am working late ( 3 times a week) but ALSO put up fairy lights in my stables tonight.

I got there and the stables were soooooo pretty. And he was scared of horses when we met.

Think I'd better get on with arranging our wedding in the new year!

Who else wants to publicly praise their OH for commitment to our mad hobby/lifestyle in the grim winter?

A big thank you to my OH as well! He is a brilliant mucker-outer, poo-picker, fence-mender, horsebox-driver, horse-holder, rug-changer, feet-picker-outer, hay and horsehage-buyer and fetcher.....the list is endless

MY OH turns out for me every morning so that we can have an extra half hour in bed because he starts work later.

I'm ill at the mo so he is doing bringing in as well, when she wouldn't come in two nights ago he left her to it and then went back an hour later when she had had time to think about how cold it was int he field on her own.

He wouldn't go within 1m of a horse when we first got D.

yes!! even tho he sold his horse due to lack of time to do anything with him, he actually came to my rescue this afternoon!! I was in a meeting all day and farrier could not catch my horse!! so OH went down there and caught him instantly!!! bless!!!

I know it isnt standard for farrier to have to catch horsey but we have our own arrangements!

Oooh yes I have. Again, mine was not that keen on horses when I first met him but now he will bring them in, feed them, rug them and shoot the rats that occasionally rear their ugly heads!
Also a tribute to my friend's OH. I keep my horse at her house and her OH was totally non-horsey til he retired a couple of years ago. He now brings them in every day, feeds them. rugs them, poo-picks and will do most other jobs too. It is like having a horse on part livery yet I only pay my friend £30 a month for the rent!

My OH can and will do amost anything for my neds, as I for his. He was a horseman long before I was.

Fraid not. he'll help if he has to, but other than that he keeps clear. His excuse is that he's allergic to them!! He does tow the trailer to shows though

Yes, my OH is a superstar!
He used to help me quite a bit with the children`s ponies, but now that he has taken up riding too, he helps a lot more, with poo picking, turning out etc.
He also put some lovely lights up outside our stables last night too.
It makes it really special that he now shares my passion - and all the chores!

YAY! And to think I once had an OH who used the line 'it's me or them.' PAST Tense.

... more fantastic OHs More....

Mine is even taking me to Olympia despite hating the shetland grand National. mind you.. am not huge fan of that bit myself...shopping opportunity I say

My OH isn't keen on horses but will help me catch sometimes at weekends and has always offered to help me out if I get really stuck - as long as it doesn't involve mucking out!
I don't mind too much that he still can't tell the difference between my 16h tbx and my friends 14.3 Welsh cob when we catch them in the dark as he is totally supportive, never complaining about the time and money I spend on my horse and even buying a car I can tow with so I can get to shows.

My OH is pretty scared of horses and not that keen on Lightning Feet aka Mr Darcy... he's not too bad though; will do the occassional check when I'm away with work or going to be very very late. He probably checks him once or twice every couple of months. He sends me pics of Darce by text when he checks him whenever I am away which is Sooooo sweet of him!

He won't catch him, bring him in or feed him though but I'm just grateful that he even checks him for me

my OH does mine when im ill, if im stuck at work or just if i need an extra hand he will come down with me.
he does everything from mucking out to filling nets, bringing in and turning out. the only thing he dislikes is rugging!
he thinks because they have furry coats they dont need them!!!

My OH fancies himself as Robert Redford but is actually a bit of a liability. He used to help me out when I was on previous yard but only in the summer because all the staff wore shorts and bikinis.

He doesn't bother at all now I'm on a yard without any tottie!

Forgot to say last winter when Darce was in OH would help with haynets and water too

He likes the bits that don't actually involve the horse!

My hubbie lets on he hates them and isnt the slightest bit interested

but I see his face when he watches missy galloping in the field and then Il hear him say ... " she looks really well doesnt she ? " or " shes got some power in them bucks " ....Il turn and say to him ..." I though you wherent interested in horses "
smirk.gif
... hubbie says in a stutter .. " Im not , I just thought ahhh never mind " hehe ....
He helps with mucking out, will help me across the road with missy and tommy, will bring them in , will feed, will put rugs on , will tow... He was even going to show missy for me at balmoral
He knows that horses keep me happy so therefor hes happy , so he says

He hates them, never comes out to see the kids ride and moans constantly about the bills...... but

He has built me a superb lorry, converted all our outbuildings into roomy stables - welding and bricklaying and doing all the joinery himself. He has done miles of post and rail fencing, fixes everything they break, has installed lights on the arena he fenced during its £13000 re-furb and held my old pony with me when I had him pts - then helped bury him the next day.

I do wish he'd share the passion I have for them, but you can't have it all ways. He can muck out, tack up, ride, rug and tie haynets up properly and would probably help if disaster struck. He's never ever had to as the kids do them, too. I do love him.

My OH is wonderful with the neds. He does everything that needs doing but prefers not to muck out only doing it when I cannot be at home. He has a thing going with the donkey and told me years ago that if I ever sold him it was a divorce. (The boy said he would go with the donk and his dad!) so this mug TURNED DOWN £,000's for him......The donk not the OH

Mine was totally non-horsey but actually brought Amber for me as he knew how much I missed my other 2 (and that my mum would NEVER let me have them).

At first he hated the time and the expense- despite me telling him constantly what having a horse would be like! Now he helps me do them all the time and even does them on his own when I have been ill. He is fab at mucking out, fixing fences and loves grooming Amber and taking Jethro for walks.

He sometimes helps me out with buying feed/hay/wormers etc and stops me from buying copious amounts of rugs and headcollars- but thats a good thing!

My OH is a star too. I love him lots.

My OH is fabby with the horses...in the dark nights he actually sees to them more than me

he then comes home and feed and cleans the dogs...I cant complain...he is not as thorough as me...but hes fab

He also bought and had delivered a pair of muckers cos I was wrecking my shoes...and didnt have time to get myself a pair of boots after chucking old ones out when I left them out in the rain

I want to publicly praise mine as he is a total gem who will look after the horses when I can't get to do them.
He also has our little un a lot so I can ride regular and compete whenever I like. (So long as I keep the communications strong, lol)!
He is a star. I love him soooo much.

My OH is quite good now, (took a yr just to get him to come to the yard though!) he helped me put down the rubber matting the other weekend, and he'll help sweep up, empty wheelbarrows etc when i muck out, and lead Holly and Blue in from the field!

He's only ridden once however don't think he's so keen on that part!

Mine has been a star recently - I had my old horse put down on Sunday and he was so sympathetic and supportive. He held him for me when the deed was done so I didn't have to do it. He has groomed my little mare for me, turns her out, gets her in at night because I don't get home from work till late. Last night he even got her in, picked out her feet, changed her rugs, gave her a haynet and did her water. He let me cry and cry on Sunday and every time I feel a bit wobbly about the old horse going he is there for a massive hug and kiss.

AND I THINK HE'S BRILLIANT!!
