Have you got your "horse of a lifetime"?

Yes ive "had" him. Murphy sadly left me to go to horsey heaven boxing day last year. We had been together 17 years. He was def my horse of a lifetime he took me from riding club through to advanced level eventing and was such a special boy, he taught me so much. RIP Murph, miss you big man.

I am a bit greedy and think I have had 3 horses of a lifetime - can't believe I have been that lucky.

Freckles, our first pony who we kept until he died a few years ago - was fantastic, did everything we ever asked of him.

Oliver, the black horse in my sig that was our first proper show horse (bought to do riding club stuff but turned into a riding horse!) - he jumped, did side saddle, great at dressage (he still lives with us but retired some years ago).

Bob (the chestnut cob) who jumped affiliated, did workers, was 3rd at HOYS in the cob class, now does para dressage - again, another one who will live with us until it is his time to go.

All of these horses were the most genuine articles ever. We have some lovely horses now, but these three were horses that I really felt at home on, trusted them to look after me. They are all soooo different, but fantastic and were aboslutely right for me at the time.

I love my Donkey, however it was her sister Stinkerstonker that was THE horse - sadly she was too beautiful for this world - but I really think we could have done so much

Yep in both ways.
Rocks is my horse of a lifetime as hes taught me so much and has such an amazing bond with me, hes my world.

Bria I honestly think will be my competition horse of a lifetime - she has the talent to be a top level eventer once she gets her head sorted and hopefully i'll still have the ride on her when shes at that level.

Yes, I've only had him 3 months, but from experiences with different horses over the years he is the one! I'm sure we won't ever do anything amazing, but I love him so much I think I will burst - so very lucky.

I had to sell my horse of a lifetime as he was a gelding and we are a stud, and he was very saleable. he was a stunning 15.2hh Hanoverian by Weltmeyer that I bought in Germany as a 3yo. It was love at first sight and his incredible temperament and fabulous movement melted my heart. He really did have Grand Prix potential and if I could replicate him I would.

Luckily I have some incredible horses now, but he is the one I should never have let get away.

I adore PF and I've learnt loads and loads with her and won plenty, but honestly, I don't think she and I are perfectly suited for SJing; I think she really needs someone more experienced to bring out her full potential.
Having said that, I don't really care! When I can't or won't jump her any more I'll breed from her

I'd like to think that B is my horse of a lifetime. Do you have to own your horse of a lifetime? Coz her Dad and I had a very special relationship, though I obviously didn't own him. He's been gone for 10yrs now and his picture is on my wall and fridge. I owe a lot to Berry and we had a wicked time growing up together on the Gower in S.Wales and I'll be devestated when he goes, but I honestly don't think he's my horse of a lifetime - though I know he is many, many peoples horse of a lifetime through all his work with the RDA, so I do feel that I am doing him a disservice by saying this, but it's true. I'd rather not talk about H, as I have to sell him, for his sake really.

Yes! Tobago (the one in my sig) is my ultimate 'dream horse'! I never thought I would have a horse as beautiful and delightful as this. He's only 3 but he's already an international champion, and the most popular first-season Arab stally in the country this year! Talk about beginner's luck - I must be the luckiest person on the planet lol! He's waaaay too good for me, of course, but he's my great friend and I love him.
