I was just about to type pretty much exactly the same thing LOL! I had problems with E&L when it came to claiming years ago, and moved to NFU with my horse Sammi.

When I bought Rox as a yearling I wanted some cheap bog standard insurance whilst he spent his days in the field. So I went with Horseinsurance.co.uk. As soon as the paperwork came through and I realised they were part of E&L, I made a conscious effort to not re-new with them once the term ended, and now insure Rox with NFU too.

NFU have a great reputation around my area for being helpful with handling claims and paying out. However, I have heard one or two disgruntlements about their fees being extortionate of late!! xx

Oh, I see LOL! The ridiculous thing is - if NFU continue over pricing insurance renewals, people will leave, losing custom, thus making losses rather than profits! It is that simple really.

Hmmmm, I wonder if I will be in the same boat as mine is due for renewal next month eeeeek! xx

I've used this company (as stated above, the same as E&L) for horses and dogs for the last 5 years or so; have made two or three claims and been paid with no hassle and without having to wait an excessively long time; the main snag I find is they occasionally send me letters saying I can have extra benefits for increased premiums, and I have to opt out to keep premiums the same, but that's easy to do with the prepaid envelope they send or by email.

Yes, have a few horses insured with them, one had surgery 18 months ago and the fees were all paid out, it took a while but our vets are very good and dont chase us as clients if it is an insurance claim.

Also got a claim going through now with them but only of a couple of weeks, think they usually wait for diagnosis before paying out and we're still having treatment (eye injury mare now blind but still trying to treat corneal ulcer).

My vets know it E&L and arent worried.

We also had a previous claim a few years back for another surgery with E&L and that got paid out too, as well as the alternative therapy.

I still have one mare with NFU but will be moving her on renewal date to horse-insurance.co.uk as am not prepared to pay for one horse to be insured what it costs to insure 3 others - it isnt logical to me.
