have you ridden bareback?

i was only today looking at my mares lovely wide back and wondering if i should jump on and have a go! ash tried it with otto once and judging by his reaction you would have thought he was unbroken, it really freaked him out for some reason.

Used to all the time when I was younger. I took my TB out XC bareback as well! That was fun

Fortunately he was an ex whipper in's horse and never put a foot wrong with his jumping

I'm not sure I'd do it now on my current horse though - he has a habit of disappearing at speed across the school! lol

Used to ride my previous mare, Anglo-Arab, bareback...really liked it...didn't jump tho - didn't actually enter my head to jump, my mind blanked it out as it knew I would fall off big time probably!!!
Have sat on my tb bareback but only done walk...she wouldnt think it was proper behaviour I don't think!!!

well after the first time i sat on Hemir bareback, could would think i was mad for getting back on him without a saddle...I get on him quite regularly and just poddle around the field/courtyard....etc BUT the other day i took him out for 15mins in a HEADCOLLAR and two lead ropes, and we ended up galloping up the hill towards home...but Hemir doesn't just canter...he was rounding his back (don't worry..he was just excited

) and i have no idea how the hell i stayed on...but was rather impressed with myself...maybe i should aslo add i didn't have a hat/riding stuffs

But have jumped him 70cm bareback and in a head collar, have jumped bounces, spreads...etc

but he's not the most comfy horse bareback...can't wait to try more things like this with Motty, as she's sooo blinking comfy

One day at the end of last hunting season I got home from work to hear that they were still hunting on the farm. I put her bridle on and went out to find them bareback. I spent most of my childhood riding bareback and love doing it.

OH said I looked as though I was going to Appleby Fair the other day as I trotted through the yard on the pikie pony in a head collar!!

aww I wish I could ride bareback properly but I really don't think my narrow high-withered warmblood's the right type of horse to teach me how!

Rode bareback on a ranch holiday in canada - a little QH with a big personality - in a headcollar & we had a paddle in the river. Actually found it more comfy than her in a saddle!!!
