Have you seen an injury like this before?

I brought my little dressage pony in on Saturday and she had a sore bump on her bottom so I put some arnica gell on it to try and soothe it. She has a full clip and is turned out at night with a full neck rug on and is in during the day naked.
Today I picked the top off and this is what I found. She has two together on this pic and then one on it's own a bit further forward. I have blue sprayed them. Has anyone seen anything like this before??

In Vet too.

It almost looks like a Warble fly exit - but they've been virtually eradicated and never (as far as I know) attacked horses anyway. So I suspect it's the result of a pussy infection under the skin - as part of weather scald. I would wash the area thoroughly with dilute Hibiscrub, rinse and dry - then spray it with Terramycin spray!

My first thought was warble fly too, but highly unlikely. Maybe an allergic reaction to some kind of bite or sting even?

Seriously I think she may have been shot. Those look like .22 airgun pellet injuries. Are there any boys with airguns anywhere near your grazing? Sorry to worry you but my horse was shot once and it looked just like that. Unfortunately boys think it's fun to make horses run. :(

Mmm I would tend to agree with this - OP I would poss think about getting a vet to check.

Long time ago we had a horse from belgium who had a bump on his rump that had a little hole. Being what we are you have to fiddle and squeeze, don't you. Anyway out shot the offending very large grub, and it left a hole very similar to your pics. Don't know if it was warble or bot though.

Does she rub her tail on the fence?
It looks to me like a fixing (with 2 screws) has jabbed her, like the kind that hold electric fencing insulators on, or something in her stable?
They're too precise for me to be too seperate pellet shots.
