I have a mare whose age is catching up with her - as my back lady put it!

She is 16/17 - done quite a bit of hunting and is beginning to get a bit stiff - most noticeable when she gets up, comes out of her stable etc and I was infact pulled up in a dressage test as the judge thought she looked unlevel.

So as winter is approaching and as soon as I start feeding her I thought I would try a joint supplement.

Have you tried Cortaflex and what (if any) results did you get?
 
Yes, was pants. Was SO expensive for what it was, had to give double dose to get any real effect.

Now use Horse First My Joints and a good gulp of vegetable oil every day and he's a new horse. xx
 
Mine was on cortaflex for a year and now on cortavet. The cortaflex really helped her and she felt less stiff even came off danilon. However her being a issue pony it wasnt enough long term so went for the stronger one when she had more changes in her hocks.

When my other 2 get older def will feed them cortaflex.

Cannot comment on equine cortaflex, but would always try it as we used to use it for our Springer Spaniel's aches and pains. You could notice a messive difference within a couple of days if I had forgotten to do the shopping.

Yup - i tried cortaflex HA on the advice of my horse's physio.

Didn't notice an effect but thought maybe it's because i'd gotten used to him going ok. Took him off it and didn't notice him getting worse so decided to stop giving it to him

Put him on codlivine supple joint formula (cod liver oil with evening primrose & some other stuff in) and saw a difference in a matter of days. Plus, it's SUPER cheap in comparison - £30 bottle lasts 3 months or so. I highly recommend it

Actually I already use Codlivine with garlic for my lab but even though he is the greediest dog in the world, even he hates the taste! I might as well take that down to the yard and give it to my horse!
 
Mare I look after is on NAF Superflex. The NAF Rep was in the tack shop when I got it for her and advised that it has more "pure" ingredients than Cortaflex, dont know how true that is but she is doing well on it. Has arthritis in both hocks and was very stiff before using it. She had been on Synequin before that through the vets but it is very expensive at first when you are doing the loading dose, after that it works out cheap at 1 scoop every other day. Unfortunately, her owner couldnt afford to buy it and at £150 per tub opted for Superflex instead. The horse is just about retired anyway now so its not vital in her performance.
 
I used it for a year and to be honest I think it was helping my wallet get lighter more than helping my horse! I now use D and H Mobility which is a selection of herbs and both my stiff ponies have improved greatly on it.
 
I used it on my boy then decided it probably wasn't doing anything so took him off to save money, a month or so later he went lame and we discovered he had mild arthritis so i would say it does work
 
My 11 year old boy has slight stiffness in his hocks. He is given cortaflex which seems to help him but the thing which helps him most is as much turnout as possible. He also wears stable chaps when he is in during the winter and I noticed a huge improvement since I bought them as it keeps the joints warm and stops them from becoming so stiff.

I highly recommend you look into getting some. They aren't cheap but the do the job!
