Have you turned out this morning?

Put mine out this morn but felt a bit mean as all his fieldmates's mummy's had left theirs in. He cantered in to me this aft (normally does a nonchalent walk) and then pranced down to the yard like a stallion even throwing in a rear for good measure! He was one cross pony! Still think its better for him to be out though-
 
We spent the day pampering him and kept him in....he seemed quite chuffed!! Went over to the country store and restocked on lots of things for the new year. I just love those shops....it's a bit like going to ikea....I didn't know all the things I desperately need and can't live without until I see them there on the shelf begging me to buy them!!!:D
 
Yep! my 5 went out,but if I'd left them in,they would have been bored,kicking stable walls box walking, weaving,face it mine suffer from most of these,so best place for them is out for the day as I don't want my foal to pick up on this.The box walking and the weaving,they all ready had the habits when I bought them, the kicking stable walls is my young mare trying to bully my young Welsh sec D and luckerly he doesn't bat an eyelid and little one at the moment doesn't know better as he's not under stress.
 
Hmm, mine stayed in. I would have prefered him to go out, but looking at the other horses stood waiting by the gates to come in, I think him and the others that were out would prefer to be in. Plus convincing him to step outside in to the wind to go for a little walk was hard enough, let alone asking him to wask all of the way to the field in it :p:D
 
Out as normal, she didn't seem in the least bit bothered tbh - she was keen to come in though at 4pm (which is earlier than usual). We've got no grass or shelter and no hay out - but as she lives on fresh air she still seems to like it!

Everything at the yard that is in at night went out as usual today - although the few that live out 24/7 did come in for a bit of respite.

I love being at a yard with no turnout restrictions! :D
 
I planned to keep my guys in as we were experiencing winds the like of ive never seen in my life.
I soon changed my mind as the sheeting on the stable roof started jumping and showing daylight, within seconds the ridgeing was off and slates flying in the courtyard behind my stables. Although the debris was flying everywhere, they were not safe in the stables and i decided theyd be better out.
I got one of my guys out then the wind blew the field gate out of my hand and literally lifted me right off my feet blowing me into the field.
I couldnt get a breath walking into the wind and struggled to get the 100m back to the stables, where i found 3 roof panels blown out above my other 2 horses, i couldnt get them out quick enough as i was sure the rest of the roof might go.
It was awful, i had to put my riding hat on as the debris flying about was horrendous, they were terrified walking out to the field
We have lost 12 roof panels off various buildings, loads of ridgeing, my landlords wifes windscreen is smashed, his bonnet has been dented, the post and rail fencing around the yard was split and blown out as was their garden fence.
Have had to leave the guys out tonight until roof fixed tomorrow,
I have never, ever experienced anything like it
 
My two went out at 6.30 this am, they'd go mad otherwise! However I has to go out this afternoon so decided to bring them in at about half 11. They're at home, so noone would've been about to check on them and as it happens I was late back (very rare!), so they'd have got really upset! Probably taking it out in each other, or their rugs, as they do!! Mine are never, ever kept in but were more than happy to come in early today! As for the field, it's a bog! Completely waterlogged but iv given up with it! It will repair in the spring/summer! I hate clay soil!!
 
Not sure why wind should harm a horse... so no, mine remain out 24/7 in any winds! I'd prefer them out actually as they hate the creeking noises the stable rooves make in high winds, they're safer up the field anyway.
