http://www.horseflaxoil.co.uk/index.htm

if you have tried it what do you think of it, i realy do love it. it took one of my horses 3 days to get on to it. but they cant eat it enough. thay love it and the shine on them already, all over they seem better. really impressed with it. just thought i would share the info. also have learned alot of people dont like feeding garlic to there horses, i always thought it was great for many things, blood circulation, flies breathing. but just found out loads wont use it. any way i do love flax oil, what do you think of it.

Just Googled it. Linseed oil/flaxseed oil - same thing.

Have used it for years, especially to bring underweight/sick/jaded horses back 'into bloom'. It's a wonderful lifter. Ours have it in their feed every day throughout the winter months to encourage good coats as they are out 24/7 and it does them proud.

Me to ive bought cold flaxseed oil and im on my 6th week using it, my mares looking shiney and i'll let you know if it help with energy after next weekend. (using it instead of starch for energy) :D

I will be changing it to flax seed meal from charnwood after my oil has gone because it works out cheaper and its had alot of good reviews!!!!

I buy mine in 20kg sacks (costs literally pennies per brew), cook it overnight in the bottom of the Aga as needed and mix it in with the soaked sugarbeet. It's a rare horse who says 'no' to linseed. But remember you MUST cook it thoroughly - it's poisonous raw.

I use Flax Farms cooked Linseed oil 4 tablespoons a day and have done for months very pleased with results and the service I buy 1 litre cans.

I use gold label
Flax
oil for my mares staph aureus

Its also good for laminitics

Here is the reason why.

Linseed Oil is also know as Flax Seed Oil; they are exactly the same thing. In the UK it has always been called "Linseed" but in recent years the more American term "Flax" has caught on.

I use micronised linseed from Charnwood - it's the cheapest way to feed it!

Plus another reminder that you MUST COOK raw linseed if you want to do it yourself, as it is poisenous when raw!

Raw linseed is a bit of a contentious issue, there are loads of people in the US (and some here) who simply grind it before use with no ill effects. And a quotation from The Horse (on line article #961):
"Horse owners wanting to take advantage of flaxseed's omega-3 content can rest easy. Flaxseed, or linseed, has a reputation as a toxic substance to horses when fed uncooked--earned because the seeds contain a small amount of cyanogenetic glycosides and enzymes that allow the glycosides to release cyanide. This poison is released when flaxseed plants are damaged by frost, drought, or processing. Since cyanide is readily absorbed in the GI tract, flax products could potentially prevent oxygen release in the blood, leading to sudden death.
However, we now know that glycosidase enzymes are destroyed in the equine stomach and small intestine long before they can trigger cyanide release. So it appears there is no risk of cyanide toxicosis when horses are fed raw flaxseed."

The beneficial omega 3 is degraded by heat, so unless you know for definite that oil is cold pressed you won't be getting as many beneficial effects; the same goes for boiling it yourself. Micronised linseed is easy to feed with all the benefits though.

no i am not on commission, just found out about flaxoil not too long ago and got it from here, i think its great, just thought i would ask and share link.

omg i did not know linseed and flaxseed was the same thing, why did they change name. i have used linseed years ago. also i remember linseed you only needed few tablespoons but with the flaxoil i need 120mls. that sounds alot more than i used to need. but it is great. thanks for info
