Have you used these for horse insurance?

The words dont touch with a bargepole spring to mind, when you go into the about us section the policy is underwritten by E and L which means ultimately they will be dealing with any claim, if you do a search on here for E and L you will find plenty of stories!!
 
No and never would. There are much better companies around - try NFU

Never heard of them. I'm with Equestrian Direct - have been for years and they are truly wonderful and very customer oriented. I've had 2 tragedies/monster claims with them (different neds) and they have been magnificent, actually paying a substantial goodwill sum that I couldn't technically claim for, after the head vet from the specialist clinic where my ned's lameness was eventually diagnosed, interceded and spoke to them for me.

One thing that's worth underlining again: if something APPEARS to be too good to be true, it always IS xxx
 
NFU for me as well. Never touch E&L...... A good friend had a nightmare with getting them to pay out even though they had agreed the claim. They took 4 months to write the cheque !!
 
Many of the contact numbers are the same as for E&L. E&L have been discussed many times on this forum & there has been very little of a positive nature ever said about them. Possibly as E&L have achieved a certain reputation

E & L.......mmmmmm NO NO NO !!! They were a nightmare with me. I lost my horse back in Feb. they lost the paperwork from Leahurst ! Then once i ageed the settlement for the death they took 4 months for the cheque to arrive, never replied to any of my emails or telephone calls, the exces on £4600.00 was £1900.00 !! Knew that was coming but all in all they were rubbish!! NFU are excellent !!!!
 
E & L stands for Excuses & Lies!!!! They lure people in because of their cheap rates. We have a Veterinary Practice and now inform our equine clients if insured with them to get in writing exactly what & how much they are going to pay for before we start treatment so that the client can hold them to it. They make every excuse under the sun not to pay once the work has been carried out.................Be Warned! I have 4 horses and have always used AmTrust Equine Insurance which is part of Equine Direct they will quote you on the internet, have been superb for advice and payment on cases and are always competetive with their quotes so I have used them for years. you can get a quote on 08453 313080
 
I use Scottish Equestrian and find them very reasonable. They have not hesitated to pay our vets bills and pay out on death, after the death of our mare 8 days ago. They also rang us to offer their condolenses.
 
I've heard such horror stories about E&L! I would also recommend NFU. I phoned up just to let them know the situation about one of my horses quite recently. The girl I spoke to was really nice and very understanding and asked if I was making a claim. I said I didn't think I was entitled to as I didn't think I had met the criteria needed. She thought I still could and told me what to send in and they then paid all of my claim and sent a really nice letter. I was so impressed as I find it rare to get such good service nowadays.
