Still Fig-uring it out...
I’ve spent some time looking for a bridle for the little palomino and everything just looks so chunky.
We started by borrowing the pony’s very plain, traditional snaffle bridle at the moment and the nose-band is too loose but the brow band comes up short. A cob sized bridle drowns her, and the “small horse” that we tried is just big-horse-that-shrunk so it came up long.
The closest to a good shape is a micklem small horse but it looks quite heavy, and then I looked at a Fairfax and it’s far too heavy but the leather was just so much nicer than the micklem so I ended up with neither.
I’m now looking at having one made. Any experiences/ advice/ ideas?
I don’t mind doing something mildly different from an aesthetic perspective, as she’s clearly an arab type, but I don’t like glitz or anything that looks colourful, very ‘modern’ or plasticy - hence I’ve struggled with bridles marketed for Arabs. I also want it to work on simple snaffle-bridle directional pressure, without too much leverage involved so western style arab bridles aren’t really ticking that box.
