Having DIY liveries

And that if they pay. I only had one but I ended up paying her debt, and for all the hay and bedding she used, so I was about £400 down and that's without removing all the s*** the field that she left behind. I now no liveries and am perfectly happy.

Mine did pay on the nail every month and did poo-pick too, luckily :)

Thinking about it, I was charging £20pw in 1995 - the last time I had 'regular' DIY liveries - had 5 of them at one point as well as my own 9/10.
Full (everything inc riding, tack etc) used to be around £80pw.

DIY livery costs in my area dont appear to have changed 1 bit in over 20 years, why? :confused3:

Everything else has gone up, and to be honest, less than £3 a day to 'park' a horse/pony is very cheap indeed.

I pay £45 a week, group turnout (4) all year around, field is poo picked twice a week by Y/O, and good stable with runner matting. I also get half a stable for storage and use of a 20x40 outdoor all year around. Plus loads of room for hay and bedding storage.

Based South East.

I'm surrey. I'm aware of £25-45 per week for field, stable, school. And there is a general shortage of DIY places.

It was £10 a week stable and grazing round here 21 years ago when I was trying (unsuccessfully) to get my parents to allow me a pony on loan as a horse mad 14 year old.... it's now £20 a week minimum

It was £5 on average round here in the late 70's and a £1 a day for stable if required.
Then went up in the 80's to around £12-15 a week inc stable, then stuck at around £20 a week from late 80's for DIY with stable.

'Here' is the pricey pary of the home counties, in NW Surrey :(

Is it still £20 a week stable and grazing DIY in NW Surrey? I feel very lucky as seem to be in a part of the country where it is relatively cheap. Have been on 5 yards over the years....

1) £20 a week stable and grazing, no poo picking, funny about turnout, miles from anywhere but in a crap hacking kind of way, automatic drinkers, outside menege on site, leccy and water, post and rail +/- dry stone walls

2) £75 pcm stable and grazing, tiny yard, YO not interested so dictated to by biatchy livery, no poo picking, OK hacking' leccy and water, left to your own devices really apart from boss livery lady. Post and rail fencing, loads of rabbit holes, YO not willing to do anything. Water easy to fill from yard.

3) £84 pcm stable and grazing, YO on site and all repairs carried out ASAP, small commercial yard, hot and cold water, loo and leccy, OK hacking. Automatic waterers in fields. Grazing split up into small one or two horse paddocks. Use of school for £5/hr extra plus meter for floodlights in winter. CCTV, post and rail fencing, excellent ground management

4) £20 a week, fencing falling over and full of barbed wire, ragwort and sycamore problems, genny for leccy, water collected in a bowser. Good hacking, no school. Same sex turnout in very muddy fields. No water source in fields = backache. No repairs done, no one on site

5) £20 a week, ex working farm, post and rail fencing, leccy and water, no school. Excellent hacking, YO on site, repairs done ASAP and does late night checks. Easy to water horses fields, excellent ground management
