following on from my previous post-im having the recue saluki cross bitch spayed tomorrow! its been over 10 years since i last had a bitch spayed so just wondering what to expect and how to cope with the dreaded buster collar!! obviously she likes to play at the mo with my other dog and is quite lively and my vet expects that after the op she wont want to for a couple of days but just wondered other peoples experiences??

You will drop her off, then pick her up mid afternoon, she may still be groggy and will prob remain quiet for the remainder of the night and may whinge a little.
You will be asked to give her a light meal/she may not even bother with it.
The next day she should be right as rain, u will need to try and keep her from jumping up and keep her on he lead for a week when exercising.............they dont all need buster collars but best to take one home as a precaution, best to have one than not, esp when she is not supervised.
It may take a few days for her to pass urine this is also common, any longer than that u need to inform your vet.

I have never had any funny after effects from the few hundred I have had done

At work the ususal calls I get after neutering in emergency hours, is thats the dogs has not eaten yet/still groggy or whinging, all of which is normal for ths type of surgery and after affects of anaesthetic.
