Currently crying to one of the cats at the farm.
Just rode fox and he was a total nightmare. He had physio monday, she said he will be good to go by wednesday. Also had his saddle refitted the other day so i was sure its not his back. I lunged him thursday night and he went like a dream, was so happy with him.

Came up today with high hopes, but no. Asking for trot was apparently not an option, lots of headthrowing, tail swishing and wee bucks. I thought ill keep going hes maybe just worried itll still hurt. When i eventually got trot he was all over the place and hollow. I got off and walked him around as he clearly wasnt happy. Im so gutted, i dont know where to go from here :(

i did notice some heat in all his feet this morning but thats gone since hes been out. Please help you guys i feel a bit lost :(

I can only suggest that you ask someone to watch you ride him, to see if they can spot something that is happening to cause this behaviour. If no-one can come up with anything, ring thephysio and ask her opinion.

Ride him without his saddle on and see how he is, i suspect saddle, I know its been checked but the behaviour sounds saddle related. if he is ok to lunge and ride bareback, then you know it is saddle.

Then think a vet may be the way forward - at least then you may get a specific diagnosis that will then hopefully lead to a solution...

Good luck

Thanks, i dont know wither to wait a few days or get the vet asap, part of me is worried but part of me is also convinced he might be taking the mick a bit since one of my sharers isnt very firm with him. I dont know what to do at all :(

I think if it was my horse I would first get a vet to check him over asap - if nothing wrong then at least you have peace of mind it is not pain related.

If the conclusion is that he is 'taking the p' have you got an instructor who can help you out, or somone else more experienced to sit on him and see if he behaves the same?

TBH the hollowing would seem to indicate some sort of pain or tension to me.....but obviously I do not know your horse, neither am i a vet!

Not contacted vet yet as i knew his back was sore and the physio came highly recommended from lots of horsey friends. However if this keeps up vet will be contacted.

From my understanding, physios should not be treating horses with know issues without referral from a vet.

My horse gets physio regularly but not to treat an issues, just as a general check.

I'd be inclined to get the vet before doing anything else!

I would speak to a scario cranial therapist in your area and see if they could help you out did wonders for me when my horse was playing up and not himself got all his muscles loosened off and now he is back to his old self also I would look at saddle doesn't sound right to me
