... just wanted to say that I'm sitting here, drinking a cup of tea, having got rid of husband and children, and waiting for the vet to come at 4.30 to have our old boy PTS. He's been with us for 16 years - not bad for a rescue lurcher, with a heart murmur, chronic arthritis, 99% deaf, 90% blind.

The next 35 minutes is going to be v-e-r-y long

Thanks god he found you and had a wonderful life, you've done him proud and are doing the best for him right til the end

Good Luck at 4:30, may it be peaceful - will be thinking of you xx

It sounds like you have given him a wonderful life, and lucky lucky you to have had him for 16 years

I bet you have many happy memories to cherish

Thank you all. It happened so peacefully, it was just as it should be. Blooming animals, they sneak their way into your affections and before you know it BOOM you are utterly smitten...

Two enormous glasses of wine and one bar of chocolate later, I can actually read your comments without crying. So a big thank you - it's amazing how much help is given by the support of strangers.

Love to you all,
Amanda

Know what you mean, when I had my old boy PTS last month an email from some very kind soul on here really helped. It doesn't matter how old they are and the fact they have 'had a good innings' it's still the hardest thing to do even if it's the right thing to do.

Hugs and happy memories.

Just wanted to add my hugs too. What a wonderful life you have given your lad. You should be very proud of yourself.

Sending you huge hugs because I can imagine how desperately sad you must be feeling. x x x
