If it wasnt bad enough i've no sleep due to how busy on call was (poxy weather!) but Royal Fail have failed me again.... grr!!!!!

Im starting to think that something in the world is conspiring against me getting dee in foal :(. The stallions owner has done her bit, the studs done theirs but the curiors have failed to deliver!

haha acording to their website its due before 25.03......hmm!

Honestly, its one thign after another, i have no peace of mind atm and on ack of sleep due ot shifts, im going to sell dee and buy a gelding, im sure its easier and less complicate to get that in foal  :p

Oh sheet!!!!!! What size follicle did she have? You may have another day! I'd be on the phone to the royal fail and be giving them hell.
Don't despair, there's always her next season. But that really is crappy!

I wasnt told til after 2pm it hadnt turned up....royal fail shut at 1..... the vet says we might still be ok for monday depending on if dee is long or short cycled....

honestly, i could cry over all the crap thats been going down with this this week lol. Honestly!

Oh well, look on the bright side your mare isnt going to the meat man becuase she has a home, unlike all the unwanted and needlessly bred foals out there already!

 the foal will be as lucky as dee also......

I agree about indiscriminante breeding, but as i am breeding for me....dont think i count ;)

Isn't that going to give you an awfully early foal (February?)

I was thinking that, and if we have another horrid winter again, then that is going to make for a nasty start for little one's life. Why don't you plan for an april/may foal? What's the huge rush?

Is there not some local scruffy stallion up the road, you can just leave dee in his field for a few hours, simple, cheap, no worrying ;)

This, all seems to be a bit of a rush to me, give her a break, let her enjoy her time out for a bit !!

I want an earlier foal so its a slightly older foal, plus, gives me more trys this year to get her in foal. I have the facilities to cater for an earlier birth so the wee one wont be coming to any harm...

If it's any consolation I had a similar situation a few years ago.

The stud dispatched the chilled semen but it failed to arrive at the vets. I phoned the stud who had mislaid the receipt - "It was on the table at supper last night".

I then contacted the post office where it had been sent from and the lady there remembered it being dispatched but the ink on the printer was running out so she couldn't decipher the tracking number . eventually the stud owner found the receipt in the bin and it turned out the parcel was probably stuck at Edinburgh Airport - we're on the West coast.

It turned up at the vets over 48 hrs late and the vet said it the motility was very low so it probably wasn't worth using but as we'd missed the window of opportunity for the frozen semen we had (mare hadn't taken with frozen on two previous cycles) so I said there was nothing to be lost by trying anyway.

Amazingly she took and the result is a big, strapping rising 4 yo now :)

Good luck!

We are meating with the vets tomorrow to discuss what happens, hopefully its not too late which begs the question why did i need to order it for saturday if monday would have done.... this isnt the studs, nor the stallions owners fault. I know sometimes these things happen but grr!

I suppose, despite the mortality, it only takes one sperm cell to fertilise the egg.... at least dee is happy and tucked up warm in this weather. :)

Can i mention dee would have been an eary foal (born on 4th april) but she was carried for longer then usual period of time :). Not that there is a usual, but a span of time :)

Thats the worst day known to man??? A tad dramatic.

Where is it coming from? A lot of major roads have been closed or blocked or very very slow today....

honey, its in light of a lot thats been going on this week.....

its from newmarket and according to the trace and tracker website is guarenteed for delivery today/..

I'm sorry, I have to agree about the timing, far too early. We had an early May foal a few years back. Warm weather, lush grass and a bouncy bouncy foal.

Icing on the cake of a bad week for you

Everything happens for a reason, if it's meant to be it's meant to be

Fingers crossed!

In your opinion its too early....however, for gradings etc which are all early in the year, i would rather have a slightly older horse (ealier foal).

Welsh D im thinking that too. :) Its trying my patients atm, at least dad is healing well, but now my brothers ulcers are playing up so dressing them daily. Trying to deal with all of this whilst being on call till 8pm monday is not fun...

As long as you have the facilities to look after an early baby in cold/wet/rubbish weather like this I don't see the harm. And as you have said, you do ! So :)

Boss's dressage mare is in foal to Legrande and due this May, SO excited.

Thousands of tb's all born from January till June they cope fine no ill affects it's a horse not a baby shut in the garden naked I'm sure op has it all under control hope she hangs on till Monday and the swimmers are still swimming and your luck turns good
