has any one used boa or old mac hoof boots?
My horse dosn't have shoes on because he tends to loose them !!! Most of the time he is fine bare foot but i feel like i need some extra protection some times when hacking. He badly bruised his sole some time friday night in the feild but my farrier still dosn't think he should have shoes back on. So any ideas please. Also are they easy to put on how do the horse reacted to them.

See Unpaid Groom's thread in New Lounge on the same subject. Easier than everyone repeating themselves here!

ETS: Horses don't seem to bother about them despite the clumpy look.

Old Mac G2s are great for hacking over hard or stony ground. You may only need them on the fronts, so I would just get one pair to start with and see how you get on. Make sure you measure the foot and get the right size according to their sizing table. They are easy to put on and take off once you get the knack. You should use the gaiters they come with initially to prevent rubbing.

Been using Boa's daily for turnout for the past week. Seem excellent so far. Mine came with free gaiters (probably wouldnt use them without as they may rub). Makes a huge difference to my pony who seems to have very sensitive soles just now. Am hoping to get another pair for a full set. I would be happy to ride in them - they dont move.

They're very easy to put on / take off. Only problem I had was within 1 hour, the plastic dial covers had come off and got lost! So ideally spray those bright yellow! My pony walked a little oddly for the first 10 steps but that was it. After that, he's fine.

Old Mac G2's all the way, see my reply in the lounge for a fully explanation

Old macs are great - my TB took to them like a duck to water (although he does look like coco the clown!) - only use in the fronts to help on stoney ground. easy to take on and off - once you get the knack - I have galloped across fields with ned wearing them!
