Hay) fleas/gnats/mites?

When filling haynets I've noticed that red itchy patches appear on my wrists and hands and what look like midge bites. Never had this before in many years of horse keeping.is the hay infestation with Something? It's off our own fields but not had this po roblem before.

I randomly got this a couple of years ago. It doesn’t seem to have happened yet this year (though it was more with the hay I had a couple of years ago)

I just put it down to a random skin reaction to that particular batch of hay.

Bitey little horrible insects aren't dead yet as it's still nice & warm. I'm eaten alive.

could just be irritation with the warmer weather too? I have the same on my wrist but it seems better now it has got cooler? As Dave's Mam says, the insects were still sround!
