Hello, my 17 welsh section a is proving hard to feed. She is not a good doer and no history of laminitis.
The issue is that our livery yard has virtually no grass. They have turnout all year round and 24 hour in the summer. But frankly there are too many horses and not enough land. I know it’s easy to say move but no other yards within half an hour drive offer turn out daily in the winter. And other yards have even less grass.
so…. Hay make her cough, haylage upsets her tummy and then she loses weight, and she won’t touch wet, damp or steamed hay.
What on earth can I feed her?
she currently has 2 large feeds a day of calM and condition, pony nuts, a balancer and vetran Molly chaff. But she needs more roughage to eat during the day and night, to keep her gut moving. Any ideas?
thank you in advance.
