Hi ladies and gents

Can anyone tell me the difference in sizes on the below

We always get hayledge at £20 a round bale, and straw at £15 a round bale.

We are looking at moving yards but the supplier will charge a fortune to deliver, the farmer next door has said he does big round hay bales @ £30 a round bale or £5.50 a square bale, and he does a massive rectangle straw bale at £30

he said they are bigger than the round bales of straw... any one have any experience on this?!

we are just used to having two round ones and don't want to be getting ripped off, equestrian stuff is already very expensive!

thanks

Big square bales of straw certainly have more in than round ones as they are more tightly packed. Ive had this discussion with ym hay people as they do both. They reckon in a big heavy rectangle bale there is as much as 12 small bales in there, in a round its about 8.

We have the big rectangular bales of straw. I would say they are the equivalent of approx 12 small bales. Last yard used to have rectangular bales of straw but those would have been around 8 small bales worth.
