Hi All

I have just called my hay man and he has told me that he has no hay left :-( arggghhhhhh so now I am really stuck.

Does anyone know a supplier for the large round bales of hay?? or even the small bales but no more than £3.50 a bale.
I am in Hemel Hempstead so someone local or that will deliver.

Please helppppp :-)

Thanks all

Everywhere is struggling TBH and they are having to ship it in from further and further afield which is putting prices up. Lets hope this year gives better yeilds

Have you got a horsebox or similar? Think we have loads of hay left in Yorks, so if you're willing to drive to get it, might even work out cheaper even with petrol costs :)

I am in Walkern nr Stevenage. I can give you the number of my hay man. I get the round bales off him but I don't know if he will deliver to HH but it will be worth a go maybe?

Have you tried ringing the ads in the back of chiltern rider magazine? I think you can view the classifieds online now. I have had one lot deilivered from beds and one from aylesbury and i am near Hemel. I just sat down and rang about 10 numbers!

I'm in Herts. Apparantly the last time we had this much of a hay shortage was 20 years ago, when they were importing it in from France.

I am feeding mine Haylage until the new seasons cut is ready, and also feeding some of the Allen and Page fast fibre, which can be used as a hay replacer. I'm also trying to give them as much turnout as possible.

Our normal suppliers have run out too. We've been offered some real **** recently. One lot was so grey and dusty it was not fit for consumption IMHO and I wasn't prepared to feed it to either of my two, and then we were offered some which looked like it had been cut from a field next to a landfill site, because it was full of litter. We also had some, which when soaked an oily residue flowed out of the haynets! That is why I'm not risking it and going to endure the extra expense of haylage. It will be cheaper than colic surgery!!!!!

Have you tried Cecil sales of sandon. They still have their own hay, not sure what its like or the price. My Haylage supplier has run out, I have just ordered a load at £6 20kg bale!!!! (0)

Thank you all for your replies! I have managed to get a few small bales in and have ordered some haylage they will have to make do with that until the new hay is cut.
It is such a nightmare had a very stressful day calling round everyone!

Big thanks to you all :-) xx
