At the farm I'm at, they are running out of hay and I need to find some quick, though March is the wrong time of year to be doing this I know!
I was wondering whether it would be easier / cheaper to get haylage instead of hay as I've never used haylage. Suggestions please, also anyone know of suppliers of hay / haylage in Uckfield, East Sussex area. I am looking for about 12 big bales of hay or equivalent.

Grouseland in Pease Pottage are excellent for haylage, think they also do hay too but never had that.

Their delivery service is first class and haylage excellent quality, I'd highly recommend them. They delivery to me near Worthing, so would imagine they would do Uckfield as possibly nearer.

I can second Grouseland - we had some big bale from them this year and it was excellent - seem to deliver to quite a large area so I'm sure they would do Uckfield, if they have any left that is!

Thanks very much, have contacted this supplier and yes they can deliver to Uckfield.
Can I fill the same hay nets with haylage, i.e. the same quantity? They are large small holed nets; I have read that I should cut down on hard food as well as more goodness in haylage compared to hay.
Any suggestions gratefully received,

Yes, I use the same volume of haylage as I do hay. If they are prone to podginess then weightape once a week to check whether they are starting to gain and if so, reduce the hard feed.

Sussex Haylage have just delivered to me ( Heathfield ) the quality is amazing and very cheap considering most people that do actually have hay are trying to charge £40 a bale!!! They obviously only do haylage but if your interested give them a call £32 a bale but it's great stuff
