hay pillow

I have been looking at these but I am also concerned my shod horse will catch his foot in them.

Edited to add I have looked at the page and they weren't what I was thinking of. There are some of them that they warn against using them for shod horses if feeding from the ground.

Horse on yard has one in stable on in field. He's unshod. Owner said you can't use it on shod horses. Considering my mare managed to get a haynet stuck on her clenchers I would imagine she would do something similar with this.

Don't like it. He really chucks it about to get hay out. Hate to say it but can't see how it's good for his back throwing his head and neck about like that.

The answer is: more exercise means they can have more hay to last them for a longer period during the night. Trust me, I've tried every gadget going and I now have to pay someone to give her some fast work in the week during the Winter in order to keep her in a decent shape. This means she can have more hay, on the floor, as intended. I'll also compromise this winter by not seeing her at tea time, I see her at 'lates' where she will get her second ration. So at about nine O clock she'll have two more wedges from me which will see her through until 12am. She'll then get nothing until turnout at 6.
