I love my new hay pillows - my ponies get to have hay in the field without making a mess, the ponies can paw at them/kick them around and so are still moving while eating and it also gives what little grass there is a little bit of respite.

The ponies love the new hay pillows as they can now actually eat something while they are turned out! They are both well used to eating from small holed haynets, but now they can take out their frustration on them in a more natural, head down, position!

Shiny pony in the sun... (at this point he had been turned out for three days with minimal intervention due to pony club camp and my illness...)

are you allowed to use treat balls in the field aswell? the lami pony here on restricted grazing has a treat ball with high fibre nuggets in

Gorgeous shine to your horse!
Where do you get Hay pillows from and what makes them different/safer than a haynet? I'm really interested in getting some as my fencing is electric and when i tie nets on the posts i always worry they will get zapped!

It's isn't anything special - a normal haynet (I use the Shires Greedy Feeder nets), but I tie the top closed then undo the knot from the string to there are no loops to get feet tangled in. I think it was ycbm who recommended doing this, and it's working out great!

they don't work well in mud :)

I made my own from some of the plastic garden mesh (the thick stuff) from B&Q.

Hopefully by the time it is muddy, there will be more grass and less need for hay in the fields lol!

I could use a treatball, except my fields are on a slope, so one of those dodecahedron thingamebobs just ends up three fields away with one decent kick lol!

For those interested I have a couple of nibbleze nets that I am particularly likeing, needed new nets anyway, have tried to copy the mechanism with my other nets but it doesn't work as well!
