Hay Pillows

After reading the 'trickle net' thread, I thought I would ask about hay pillows, as my pony will need his hay steaming/soaked and I want to keep him 'grazing' for longer.. Sorry already thinking ahead to winter..

Anyone use them?

ps. he is barefoot

I have no experience of them but I've had a look and was going to say I wouldn't use one with a horse that's shod, but yours is barefoot anyway. Wouldn't they get awful muddy?

they get minging pretty quickly-whether they are used inside or out IME. might be alright for dry countries, Scotland-not so much
